JULY is for stuffed veggie wraps, ice cold drinks and pints of Strafford Organic ice cream
Returning to bakery inspired, minimal kitchen time meals… (photos of this months picnic? send us yours!)
Supplies:
- Same as June, this list could be longer, would probably be fine if it were shorter, but do bring line 5 (food and drink) at least!
- Blankets / beach towels, enough for food and people
- Napkins
- Knife and cutting board (a small knife and cutting board are all that’s needed)
- Bowls and utensils for eating and serving (I love enamel bowls for this purpose)
- Food and drink! (plus an ice pack or two to keep the cold things cold)
- Extra water to rinse hands (and dishes!)
Procurements:
- Wraps – The big flour tortillas we carry in the freezer are made with just a few simple ingredients, and avocado oil! Very tasty.
- Spreads – Definitely not an either or here, but there’s the “mayo, mustard, cheese and veggies” route, and the “hummus / pesto / zhoug and veggies” route. Both can be so good, why not do some of each.
- Cheeses and the like – Smoked cheddar is a favorite around here, herby chèvre is also great. But for one great wrap, get a jar of our Greek Delight. Pour some oil off to use in your vinaigrette dressing, then crumble the sheep’s feta and olives over the big pile of seasoned lettuce. Yum.
- Vegetables – Salad greens and arugula are pretty much always in stock, but change things up with shaved ribbons of zucchini and summer squash or quick pickled carrot and red onion!
- Alongside your wraps – Cornichon, dill spears, or carrot sticks are classic add alongs, but some nuts or a few dried apricots hit the spot too.
- An Ice Cream Dream – You’ll want to bring a freezer bag with some ice packs for those pints of Strafford Ice Cream, but if you time it right, they’ll be perfect for scooping just in time for dessert. (with a cookie or two perhaps?)
- More Cold! – Our favorite when things are really hot is a toss up between “Bubbly Shrubbly” and “Pigeon Cove Kombucha, but light and refreshing is the name of the game. (we won’t judge you if Root Beer is your thing)
- Good attitude and flexibility – As always, remembering that we live in an amazing place of incredible beauty, goes such a long way towards ease and enjoyment of the moments, however they come.
ENJOY!
